Silicone mat and strap arrived smelling horrible. The odor was so strong it permeated not only the box it came packaged in but the bigger Amazon box holding it. When questioned, the seller immediately replied and told me to bake it in my oven 1 or 2 times and the smell would be gone….and if it wasn’t they would replace the mat. I baked the mat and strap in a 400 degree oven for 45 minutes with my house windows open and the smell completely went away. I let the mat cool and then baked it again for 45 minutes just to be sure. Maybe all mats don’t arrive with this horrible smell but I feel it is the seller’s responsibility to bake off the ‘finishing chemicals’ or whatever was causing the smell. It makes the consumer wonder if this mat is a safe product to use. Today I made sub rolls using a copycat subway Italian Herb & Cheese recipe. I used the mat placed on a large cookie sheet for support and the sub rolls turned out wonderful! I give the seller a 5 for quick response, the mat a 5 for working very well, and a 2 for the mat smelling horrible and having to spend the time getting rid of the smell.

For the price this is a good buy.You will definitely need to have a baking sheet under this, it is too flimsy on its own and will sag, and your dough will flop right out of the mold, that being said it keeps the loaves holding their shape, I don’t use any oil to coat mold and absolutely does Not stick. The breads I have made so far bakes evenly, browns top and bottom to a nice crispy crust and I am happy with it.Plus I can roll this mold up and take up little space in my cabinet.

I bake as a hobby and wanted to try making sandwich rolls like the ones you get from Subway. I saw this exact silicone mat being referenced from a bread recipe I found on Pintrest so I wanted to try it out. I’ve already used this mat a few times and it helps make baking/shaping Subway-style footlongs super easy. I’m glad I purchased it.The mat had a weird smell when I unboxed it but after washing it in warm soapy water and letting it air out for a few days the smell went away. It’s a bit flimsy but you have to use the mat with a baking sheet. I line my baking sheet with parchment paper then place the silicone mat on top. The only annoying part is cleaning the mat but I just wash it in warm soapy water right away after removing the cooled-down bread rolls and it shouldn’t be an issue unless your dough is really sticky or you bake with messy/sticky ingredients. The slap bracelet (?) included was a cute touch but I don’t wear it or use it.

Bought this a while ago and finally got around to using it. The bread came out fantastic. The only issue I have is that it’s larger than my biggest baking sheet. I cut it into two pieces and use it on separate baking sheets. Now it works perfect.

I don’t have anything to complain about for these. Definitely need to have a cookie sheet underneath it as it’s flimsy (it is silicone after all). I have used parchment paper in it so far. I haven’t put the dough straight into the pan. Easy enough to clean. It might have a strong smell when you first use it in the oven. Wash it first of course.

Excellent silicon product specifically made for baking baguettes. I love the ease of forming loaves to sit in the formed liner in which no extra oil or spray is needed to keep bread from sticking! Just as easy is the clean up. Just spray it down and let air dry. Perfect baguettes, everytime! Wished I had know about this product years ago!

Hard to remove baked product with out it sticking. I sprayed it with chosen avocado oil but it wasn’t any better

My son is a big fan of Subway, he wants it for his packed lunch and I just cannot get to subway. I grabbed these mats because I saw them used in a cooking video and thought I’d give it a try. There are always neat useful kitchen items I want but I can’t justify the purchase simply because I don’t have space for all of these tools and pans.. this fixes my issue in that it just folds up as easily as a towel and takes up almost no space.Paired with the right recipe the results are absolute perfection, you even get that nice texture on the bottom you associate with subways rolls. I will be getting more silicon mats for burger buns and other things I intend to make based on my experience with this one.
